Volunteer with College Park Swim and Dive
To make our Swim, Dive and Water Polo teams successful, we depend on parent involvement and volunteers to help and support the activities of the team.
Whether you are able to spare a couple of hours to help out at a swim meet, get involved in a fundraiser or help to organize an annual event, there are a variety of volunteering opportunities available throughout the year.
All volunteers sign up for meets via the following Sign Up Genius Link.
Meet Timer- Lead or Head
Lane Timer- no previous experience is required for this role. Two timers are needed at the end of each lane to operate a stopwatch and manual plunger as back up to the Touch Pad Timing System at each lane. One timer also records the stopwatch times on a timing sheet at the end of each race.
Head Timer- supports the Lane Timers by starting two additional stopwatches at the start of each race in case a Lane Timer’s stopwatch malfunctions or doesn’t start on time.
Hospitality
For College Park hosted meets, there are a range of roles including helping to set up or clear up the hospitality room, take delivery of hospitality donations brought to the venue, supervise the room during the meet and fill up the refreshments, deliver water to the timers and officials on deck during the meet.
Donations- Volunteers provide refreshments for athletes who travel for meets, or volunteers and officials working at meets.
Booster Club Volunteers
If you would like to be involved on a regular basis, new Booster Club Board Members are welcome! The Booster Club helps plan and organize fundraising events, team building events, spirit nights and annual events such as the Banquet and Senior Night; provide team apparel; produce, update and circulate swim team information/the team website; support swim meets and coordinate College Park hosted meets; and anything else they can do to support the team!
Fundraising Coordinator
Teams are allowed two fundraising activities per school year. For example, car washes, endless relay. Money raised from fundraising helps the teams with travel meet expenses, coaches workshops etc.
Sponsorship Committee Chair
This position is responsible for soliciting donations from the community to help our teams achieve their fundraising goals. Sponsors receive links on our webpage and recognition on heat sheets.
Team Building Coordinator
This position is responsible for coordinating all team building activities such as team get togethers, (ex: rock climbing activities, yoga, pasta parties before meets).
Pasta Parties are a great way for our athletes to hang out and see each other outside of the pool in a informal atmosphere. Interested in hosting a pasta party at your house? You can also help out by donating food/drink or help with the cooking and clean up.
Senior Parent Liaison
Senior events include several events throughout the year. This is an exciting position for a senior parent to coordinate as many activities throughout the year as they would like, such as Senior Night, senior poster boards, special recognition at the banquet etc.
Swim and Dive Officials
How would you like a front row seat when watching College Park Swimmers? The officials are charged with the following responsibilities: Stroke & Turn Judge, Starter, Deck Referee, Chief & Administrative Judges. No prior swimming or officiating experience is necessary, but you must attend a training/clinic and become certified. If you are interested in officiating for the 2021-2022 UIL High School Season, then they should visit Arbitersports.com for more information and to register for training. Registration usually opens in early September. If there isn’t any information out, please continue to check back. Also, check the tisdo.org website for additional information on high school officiating and how to register on the arbitersports.com website.
We encourage anyone interested in the Booster Board to come along to any of our meetings. If you are interested in attending a meeting, or shadowing an existing Booster Club board member to get a better idea of what’s involved and see if it’s a good fit for you, we would love to hear from you!
